Poems by PATCH

Patrick (Patch) Jones is the co-founder member of the Desktopmoods web site. Born in London on 29th November 1949, he was one of six children; the third to be born. The second child in the family being the only girl, who died before his birth. "We were a very poor family and despite having to share two pints of milk daily between all seven of us (5 kids, 2 adults) my parents always made sure that we were properly clothed," said Patch.

Patch left school at 15 years of age and lived on the streets of London until he was aged 17. In April 1967 he met the love of his life, Denise, and she encouraged him to go back home to his parents. They were married in September that same year and have been together since. They now have three grown up children and five grandchildren with more to come.

Patch went through a long period of unemployment through ill health during the 1980's. This led to a period of depression and he was encouraged to set pen to paper to rid himself of the melancholy rather than taking ever increasing strengths of drugs. This led to his creativity in poetry. "I find that, as with myself, many other people that write poetry write about something that they can relate to that does not necessarily have any bearing on the subject of the poem."  An example to this would be the frustration he was going through and the psychological locked in feeling he had during his period of depression and feeling that nobody could understand what he was really suffering at the time. This is best reflected in the poems titled, “The Lost Drink” and “The Greatest Fly Swot Caper”.

Today. Patch is in good health both mentally and physically and enjoy travelling in order to obtain more photographs for the Desktopmoods web site.
